Ground Zero requests location permissions (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) for the following core features:

• Distance Calculation: To show you exactly how far away an earthquake epicenter is from your current position.
• Proximity Alerts: To trigger background notifications if a seismic event occurs within your user-defined radius.

Security Note: Your location coordinates are stored in the device's private SharedPreferences and are used by the app's EarthquakeWorker locally. We never transmit your location to any external server.

4. Third-Party Integration

To provide high-quality seismic intelligence, the app connects to:

• USGS (U.S. Geological Survey): We fetch live earthquake feeds directly from official government APIs. No user data is shared during these requests.
• Google Maps SDK: Used for visualization of seismic events. Google may collect diagnostic data as per their Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Because we do not store your data on our servers, there is no "account" to delete. All application data, including your saved settings and alert logs, is stored in the Android App Sandbox. You can permanently delete all data by uninstalling the application or clearing the app storage in your Android settings.
